Project Description

This particular piece is a custom made console table (would also make a great sofa table) made of steel and vintage wood from a salvaged barge. The barge was built in 1968 and was anchored in Mission Bay (San Diego, CA). The Tsunami traveled thousands of miles from Japan, hit the California coast and caused the barge to break loose from its mooring. Unfortunately, the barge was destroyed; however, a limited amount of the wood was salvaged. This wood has one of the most beautiful patinas I have ever seen. The colors are incredibly varied with rich tones of red, green, turquoise, white, brown and more. No two pieces are the same. The wood of this table has been sealed giving it a deep, rich color palette. I can also make the table for you with an unsealed top which would give it a “lighter” appearance (I can send pictures if you’re interested in seeing the wood unsealed).

The table has hairpin legs giving it a mid century modern, vintage/industrial look. The steel on this particular table has been left natural to lend to an industrial feel (it has been clear coated to protect it, though). I can also create this same table for you with the steel done in black patina. By doing so, the table takes on a more vintage feel. This table is very unique and is unlike any other table you will see.

The dimensions are approximately 38.75″ wide x 12.5″ deep 30.5″ high. This size makes it very versatile; however, if you would prefer a different size, please let me know and I’d be happy to make it for you.

The table is shipped with the legs detached (to save on shipping) and just screw back on (holes are pre-drilled and the screws are provided).
